In June 2008 the outdoor program known as Woodleaf Outdoor School, changed its name to Shady Creek Outdoor School Program. For 39 years we leased a facility in Challenge, California. Our contract was not renewed in 2007 and the search for a new site began. In February 2008 the Sutter County Superintendent of Schools Board approved the purchase of Shady Creek in Nevada City, California.
We will still be offering the same outstanding outdoor school program under the name "Shady Creek." Indeed, this remarkable stretch of waterway is a beautiful and unique feature of our new property and we are pleased to highlight it in our name.
We are confident that the name Shady Creek will be as well known as Woodleaf. With the purchase of our own facility, we are now able to offer conference services at our new location as well as the outdoor school program for school districts. This will in no way interfere with the weekly program.
Employees
All Shady Creek Outdoor School staff are subject to the same background checks as any public school employee. This includes an extensive background check including fingerprint clearance with the Department of Justice, thorough application process, interview process, and reference checks. Employees must also complete a TB test and are subject to ongoing evaluation by Shady Creek Outdoor School administration and visiting school personnel.
