 Shasta; a Bald
Eagle, was found with a broken wing after an apparent
mishap that had caused her to fall. Only after she was with us for a
while and broke her leg while jumping off her perch did we come to
understand the full extend of her injuries and of her tragic story. When
she was x-rayed it was determined hat she has a number of permanently
imbedded shotgun pellets in her legs and body. Indeed, the place where
her leg had broken was made weak by the pellets lodged there. While she
is now healed, the previous damage to her wing coupled with the
remaining shotgun pellets make her a permanent resident of the Raptor
Center.
