The study of forest ecology permeates the curriculum at Shady Creek Outdoor School. Here we have an old growth forest preserve where students experience the best nature has to offer first hand. Classes have the opportunity to visit the preserve on the forest ecology class or silent watch. Additionally the forest is viewed from a Native American Perspective, and through the study of ethno botany where students learn the lore of the forest as well as the many uses of local plants and trees.
