The focal point of these lessons is the earth processes laboratory. This consists of a series of portable labs that allow students to conduct experiments to demonstrate convection currents, plate tectonics, erosion, magma, volcanoes, the affects of heat and pressure in the formation and transition of rocks, and more. The Earth Processes Learning Lab allows students to experience a hands-on look at the processes that shape the earth. Students are divided into six groups with each group performing an experiment and then relating their results back to the rest of the group. In this way each student has the opportunity to be both student and teacher as the earth's processes are studied from the earth's core to the surface.
