Bubo, a Great-Horned OwlBubo; a Great Horned Owl, was taken from his nest when still a baby. The people who took him fancied that he might make a good pet. Bubo was kept in a parakeet cage and fed hot dogs and other food inappropriate for owls. As such, his health diminished and eventually the people who had him came to realize that such a pet was impractical (and also illegal). Bubo was turned in and ultimately placed at the Raptor Center. Bubo has since regained full health but is unreleasable because he has become imprinted on humans. This means that if release he will go to people for food rather than hunt on his own. As such, he would not survive in the wild.
