The emphasis of this class is on basic ecology. The pond and the aquatic animals that utilize this habitat are used as a focal point for hands-on explorations of concepts like adaptations, relationships, the importance of habitat, populations, energy flows, and endangered species. Magnifying glasses, pond field study guides, and students’ hands are used to delve deep into the seldom seen world of the pond.
